Sunday Coffee – RIP XIV

And it’s here!!!!!

For the I-don’t-know-how-many-eth time, I’m participating in the Readers Imbibing Peril Challenge this fall. (I believe my first time was 2009?)

For those who haven’t heard of this before, the RIP Challenge runs from September 1st to October 31st and suggests that we read and enjoy books classified as mystery, suspense, thriller, dark fantasy, gothic, horror, and supernatural. Even though it’s always 100+ degrees in San Antonio when this event starts, this marks the beginning of my autumn season. I look forward to RIP every year and always have a HUGE list of potential reads for my Peril the First level (4+ books) of the challenge. This year my list includes:

  • Ghostland – Colin Dickey
  • Poison Squad – Deborah Blum
  • City of Ghosts – Victoria Schwab
  • Grave Importance – Vivian Shaw
  • The Turn of the Key – Ruth Ware
  • The Canterville Ghost – Oscar Wilde (short story)
  • The Crossing Places – Elly Griffiths
  • Ninth House – Leigh Bardugo
  • The Phantom Forest – Liz Kerin
  • The Art of Theft – Sherry Thomas
  • The Witch of Painted Sorrows – MJ Rose
  • Witchmark – CL Polk
  • Bellweather Rhapsody – Kate Racculia (reread)
  • Monster of Elendhaven – Jennifer Giesbrecht
  • The Babysitters Coven – Kate Williams
  • Lock Every Door – Riley Sager
  • The Restorer – Amanda Stevens
  • The Last Resort – Marissa Stapley
  • In a Dark, Dark Wood – Ruth Ware

I’m sure the list will grow as the season progresses and as I hear about possibilities from other RIP participants! Now let’s get reading!!!!!

Thank you so much to the hosts at the Readers Imbibing Peril site for hosting this awesome event once more!! Y’all are fantastic!
